Randy Couture Resigns from UFC

News came in today that Randy "The Natural" Couture has departed from his UFC contract. A fax was sent from Couture from Africa where he is filming a new movie to the UFC offices citing differences about his status and worth under his current contract. The story broke on "The Fight Network" citing, "UFC’s inability to land PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko" as a major part of his decision.

“I appreciate this opportunity the sport of MMA and the UFC has given me,” the UFC Hall-of-Famer said. “However, I’m tired of swimming upstream at this stage with the management of the UFC. It only makes sense at this point in my career to fight Fedor Emelianenko, and since he’s now signed with another organization, I feel like it’s time to resign and focus on my other endeavors.”

Dana White responded today in an interview on UFC.com in language that sounded hopeful that he would be able to fix this as soon as Couture returns to the US and meets with him. Read Dana White's (UFC President) response on UFC.com.
